Show me your amp rack pics
I may need to relocate my amps from underneath my seats to the rear due to new seats I'm getting. I'm looking for something low profile and compact.
Sorry, I dont have a digital camera, but the package shelf on all 3rd Gen cars make a great place for an amp rack, nice n pretty too, if not a little too visible. I made mine out of 1/2" MDF, carpeted with material to match the interior. It sports 4 Soundstream amps, plus the power and ground distribution blocks. The only thing to be careful of is the gas tank right below the shelf when you mount the rack.

well its more of a stand than a rack. I have 4 amps but no where to put them so i came up with this mess in the spare tire area. Its not fined tuned yet but it does hold all four amps.

well depending on how big the amp is you can mount it in the storage space on the drivers side. i was able to mount my smaller amp in there, but the big one wouldnt fit. here is a picture of how it is mounted.

I have a small amp in the driver's side compartment and it never got wet...... yet. Hey FireBertha.... that is a very nice system in your bird. I read about it and it sounds like you aren't cutting any corners. I would like to listen to some of the MB Quarts.... there is a stereo shop around here but they don't carry that stuff. I also like the JL 500/1 ALOT. I listened to one them and they are incredible. I am getting some ideas for a system in my future vehicle. I am getting a 88' Blazer S-10 cause the bird is my dad's "toy". I read alot of stuff of the board because Blazers have the same size speakers. All in all very nice system man.
heres how he did it....

This kid has 2 kicker amps enclosed in glass with computer fans to cool it and he tells you how to do it..

i dont have an amp rack im my seats, but there are pics in my sig in case you want to see how i did it.
its basically mounted between the seats and the sub-box. i used a wooden board, wrapped some stainless steel sheet metal, and walla, instant amp rack.

Ryan, yours is almost exactly what I have in there now except the subs are visible. I may need to move my two smaller Alpines back there with my V12 T500 amp. I'm considering building a tray that will stand up from the subs and hold the three amps while allowing the bass to pass through and around it.

On mine I've only got one 10" back there and me and my local stereo shop guy played with it for awhile and actually have the sub firing towards the bottom of the well and then the amp is just tossed on top. It was a simple design, but at least with this setup it sounded best faced down. Plus I wanted the amp to be visible and be able to cool so I thought that would be the best way to do it, cover it but let it be seen and that way the heatsinks can get some air over them. Eventually I'm going to add a second 10" sub and mount the amp between them possibly underneath plexiglass with small fans installed to cool it and some sort of lighting system under the glass to show it off at night. At least that is the thought. Still remains to be seen if it can be done. lol

The 5-second amp rack. There is 1 screw in the top left, one in the lower right. Holds great. Just undo the top screw, pull out the amp, adjust as needed, set on lower screw, and tighten the top screw, and your set. I had just got done putting my sub in, and that blue wire is to the sub, but I hid it in the side w/ the rest of the wires.
I have a custom sub box holding my 2 tens... then my amp i have mounted half on the sub box and half just on the carpet.... the box fits in the hole in the rear of the trunk the 2 subs are angled towards the front.... my amp is hide by the T Top bag and the tinted windows.. then i have 2 strobe lights back there with a 20" neon.. looks good... when i wanna take a cruze or show the car ill pull down the back seats and fold the t top bag up... its all flat with lights amp and subs in the back... i get a lot of ppl telling me its the coolst thing they have seen!
Here's mine
My cousin :hail: gave me the 4-channel Rockford Fosgate amp and I bridged it to run my two 10's. This is my first try at a custom setup and I made the enclosure, amp rack, and did all the wiring myself. It's been in the car for almost a year and I've had no problems with cutting out or anything.

my rack in the works right now is gonna look pretty much similar to JPrevost's. love the idea. and, with just a couple quick disconnect connectors (www.delcity.net), you can pull everything out and lighten up the load for a race
nahh, they don't over heat.
For one, those amps have a built in cooling fan inside of them. I think both them do, if not the one does.
second, when he folds up the seats, theres about a good 1/3-1/2 of the amp exposed and heat rises out from there.
On a 110%, with humidity at 95% they might get a little warm.
And if he was smart, he'd get his hatch tinted. j/k John!

Actually, that whole system is gone now. I liquidated most of it over winter, and im hoping to rebuild something better in Sound Quality, but much less "wow" factor looking in. You COULD still see out the back window, but much much less. I did use the rearview regularly, i made sure i was comfortable driving with it before.
The new setup will be much simpler. 2 12's for subs, thats it. The 12's and the 10's was overkill, and didnt sound good to boot. (Seemed like a good idea at the time
