Ok, i have the total stock stereo in my 87 SC. The speakers are no starting to buzz when the bass hits, so i know they need replacing.

I gotta have the CD player, no doubt.

I think i might stick to 1-10 or 1-12, not sure,

I listen to mostly hard rock and heavy metal, so i'd like something that sounds good, plus a little bass.

Mind you im on 16 and this is my first car, so money is kind of an issue, but i've got alot of saving time, as i will be debuting this no time soon(rather have it looking good later and looking ****ty now LOL).

The CD player im looking at is the Pioneer CDM4300.

Could you please reference some speakers to look at.

Im seriously thinking about getting 4x6 plates with some round speakers since they sound better.

Please reference what to get. Me and my dad would be build the sub/amp box, so no issue there.

 

Kickpanels!! no 4x6's I say this all over the board, but don't waste your time or money with 4x6's make some kickpanels outta fiberglass. and as far as which brand, go listen to some and see what you like. and also in my opinion, hevy metal and rock doesn't have alotta bass where a 12" would hit.(110hz down is what I got mine set at) so maybe think about like a 12"(110hz and down) and an 8"(100hz-250hz) something like that. because I'm really into that same music and hardly anything hits the 12"'s best frequencys. just my opinoion though.

 

I listen to mostly metal also, and my setup is great for me. I have pioneer 6x9's in the back, that are run off my amp(150x4), and I have 2 pioneer 12" subs in a home made box in the back that are also run off the amp. My stock 4x6's are still up front, but they are run off the deck. I personally dont care for kick panel speakers, because I'm 6'6, so my legs block the sound and I cant really hear them well. By the way, 87transam, what do you listen to that doesn't have much bass? My two 12's bump A LOT

 

metallica, pantera, korn(that bumps) etc. I'm not saying it doesn't bump at all, but it doesn't work the 12" ers like rap does :0)

 

well, I love that stuff too, but you cant say that its because of the subs. Rap is supposed to bump more, thats why. Mudvayne and slipknot bump like a ****** in my car. In fact, so does Pantera. Anyway, good luck in making your system.

 

So do you guys like Black Label Society? Cause their new CD bumps the **** out of a system.

Anywho, im not gonna get kicks right now because im not a car audio freak, so im not gonna spend EXTRA cash at this point.

This is all I have, 2 JL 10" subs, Kenwood 600 amp, Jenson Speakers and Deck, and Polk 4x6. And it pounds to all my music, which is mostly hardcore and metal.
