Hey, Quick question that might have been asked before. Does anybody know how to stop a rattling coming from the section where the rear speakers are? I have a 91 RS Camaro. Any help is appreciated. thanks

I have never had that problem in my 89 RS. But my sub drowns out most little rattling anywayz . Actually the only real rattling problems are on the outside....my license plate and windshied wipers. Inside is pretty solid. I read in a Car Audio that Camaro's are some of the soundest cars to put a stereo in cuz they are already pretty rattle-proof, so less dynomat is needed. They are also pretty sound tight...well mine is anywayz. With windows up you can't hear much outside, but with windows cracked, KA-DAM, its loud. Anyone got any ideas on how to stop the license plate from rattling? Sorry I couldn't help ya though. I guess you could try either Dynomat (or something similar) or the spray stuff that is supposed to stop rattling. Or find whats rattling and either remove it or possibly tighten (if possible) if it is loose for some reason. Other than that, I dunno.

rattles

You need to locate the rattle then add weight to it, or secure it or place something between parts that rattle together.
I used to remove the liscence plate and spray glue a piece of speaker box carpet to the back of it. I did this for no charge to my customers, more diffcult rattles were solved $/hr.

ok, i can already tell that you use the 6x9s for low frequencies.. correct? if this is so, the 6x9s are punching out bass which makes vibrations and loosen screws/bolts.
there are 2 bolts on either side of where you mount the 6x9s.
i had this problem. They got so annoying that i had to stop it even when i knew i was getting subs.
see, the 6x9s bolt onto a piece of sheet metal, and that sheet metal inturn bolts on to the body of the car.
At the top of the sheet metal i put a thin sheet of rubber in between that and the body of the car and tightened the bolts the speaker and the sheet metal where the 4 screws are and used a bigger screw to cut new threads out of the sheet metal. Finally i got some 150hz bass blockers for them so they didn't punch, and left those frequencies to the subwoofers.

Here's the craziness I went thru to stop the rattles.

When I replaced the carpet I used Duplicolor's sound eliminator on everything metal. I even sprayed b/w the inner and outer sheet metal. Then I layed down thermoshield insulator beween the carpet and sprayed floor. I took speaker box carpet and lined all of my interior plastic pieces. I then took off the door panels and shot inside the doors to coat the outer door skin. I used Dynamat on the inner door skin & speaker box carpet on the back of the door panels. I jacked the car up and sprayed the underside in the stuff. I lined the dashpad in speaker box carpet and dymamated under it. I dymamated under and around all my speakers. I took out the taillights and put felt at the points where the plastic contacts the body. I used speaker box carpet on my licence plate. I plan to put something b/w the side mirror and the body to stop the vibration there.

You basically can not hear the bass at all outside the car w/ the windows up. You can somewhat hear it with them down, but if you stick your head in holy crap. I'm curious to enter a sound comp and see where my db are. I don't know if teh sound proofing helps or not in sound comps.

I have a 12in pioneer with 160 watts to it lowpass.
8in Boston w/ 80 per watts full
Pioneer 6X9s with 20 watts per full
Pioneer 4X6 plates and 5-1/4 in the doors w/ 50 watts per High

I would try and put some gasket sealer in the screw to keep them from rattleing out. Also I would put a small square of rubber between the screw and the licents plate. Use alot of rubber is all I can say but I have never tried it cause my speaker box is empty.
