Can a Holley 600cfm DP pass emissions?

Is it possible to pass? I need to be able to pass a sniffer at idle and 2500. I guess if all else fails I'll just have to swap the CC Qjet and distributor for the day of the emissions test. Probably the intake too unless someone knows a way to adapt a QJet to a Performer so it will fit under the hood.

Thanks,
Matt

I don't know about a 600cfm... but a 750vac passes with no problems in NC! Visual too... I guess they couldn't see it under that big-honkin stock air cleaner

Vacuum leaks do wonders for the sniffer...

Let me expound:

Even if they don't notice the carb type in the visual, when they climb into the car, they turn the ignition to "on" and look to see if the SES light comes on. Then, they start the engine and look to see if the SES light goes off in the first few seconds. If either of these do not occur, you fail.

So, you take the bulb out so it doesn't glare at you all the time, they don't see the light come on, you fail. You leave the bulb in, the light doesn't go off after the engine is started, you fail.

If you want to go to the trouble of hooking up a timed relay to that SES bulb, be my guest.

By the way, the Performer is drilled for both square- and spread-bore carbs. And, it's more than a sniffer, it's a dyno test (unless it's an '81-older vehicle).

I would just leave the cc stuff on the test day then 20 min after rip it off. A neat trick that I used the one and only time I had to get a smog check when I lived in denver was to rig the check engine light to the choke light and it worked. You could also rig it two the fasten seatbelt light. But if you get caught your SOL.

5.7... I don't know how they do it in CO, but here in NC at a Quick10/Jiffy Lube, they don't look at the SES light. They have a checklist and simply go by that. During that one day each year, I have to put the stock air cleaner back on (it doesn't fit a Holley too well either) for the TAC sensor. I have to put the AIR valves, hoses, and diverter thing on too. I lean it out a little and create a small vacuum leak, then drive to the shop early one Saturday morning on a cold day in March.

These guys here just go by the things on the list. It is so bad, that they look to see if you have windshield wipers, but literally will pass you even if you don't have a windshield... it isn't on the list!

I still keep my q-jet (with a broken base which needs to be replaced) and HEI in a box just in case someone gets wise and looks under the air cleaner...

They're a little more sophisticated in Colorado. It's the only thing this outfit does.

5.7... I just looked at something on my car yesterday. I have replaced all the dash gauges and hooked up a light to the seatbelt light... which goes on for about 10 seconds when I first start the car, than it shuts off. Sound like what the SES light does?

BTW- I made lights for the e-brake and high beam indicator too just so I'd pass

Yeah same here man, They dont do it in my county, and I pray they never do, cause I will fail so badly it wont even be close. I have no emissions control whatsoever on my ride. Who gives a sweet rats *** about the environment anyway? Leave that to the import crowd, I need my performance.

The only thing you have to fear is if the same people who run your elections would run your emissions program.
