Idle problems after rebuild
I just rebuilt a holley 500cfm 2 barrel. Now when I start it I have to choke it, but as soon as it starts, I have to open the choke back up or it dies. I never had this problem before the rebuild, I would pump it twice and hit the key. Any ideas on what I need to do?

If you're talking about a manual choke Holley and starting a COLD engine that's normal.
If you're talking about an electric choke carb that should be fully automatic then you probably forgot to connect the vacuum line to the little vacuum diaphragm on the pass. side of the carb to the correct port. It requires full manifold vacuum at all times to do it's job.
Or, if you forgot to connect it's linkage to the choke linkage properly or messed with it's adjustement it could also cause those kind of problems. It's job is to pop the choke plate slightly open immediately after startup to prevent the kind of problems you are describing.

Damon
Its a manual choke, and cold engine. None of my engines have ever had this problem before. I'll try adjusting the linkage then.
Thanks
