'83 Z28- does it have the secondary in-tank fuel pump?
A friend of a friend can't get his '83 to start, just wondering if he has two fuel pumps to deal with, or just one!
OOPS, my bad, I meant 84 Z28, with the 305... thanks!

I thought it had something to do with a vapor-lock abatement retrofit kit, with '87's having the in-tank pump on all models (no L69 that year). Does his car have a little blower motor in the R/F fender that blows air on the front of the carb when the engine is off & hot?

Yeah, I think it is a LG-4 vs. L-69 kinda difference. My brother's 85 LG-4 has no secondary pump back there (or it jsut isn't working). I never really bothered to check.
I have heard that later years of the LG-4 got the secondary pump, too.

I'm not sure, 57kid; I've never seen the car! In fact I don't even know if the engine's an LG4 or whatever... was there an L69 in '84?

Yes there was a L69 option in 1984 and no the LG4 option did not have a second fuel pump in the tank.

The CHP "My Generation Camaro" '87 has LG4, in-tank fuel pump. My '86 LG4 donor car did not have the in-tank pump, but did have the carb blower.

I know I have a '83 Z28 with the L69 option, and I don't have any electric fuel pump on mine.

just a shot in the dark, look at your fuse block. 90%of our cars have the same block, with a space for a fuel pump fuse. My 86 has the LG4 and the f/b has a space for a fuel pump fuse, but there are no wires in back, and no fuse, deducting that there is no electric pump. However i could be wrong cause previous owners may have had it removed (doubt it) Just my .02

Thanks for the info guys! And thanks for the confirmation, Confuzed1. I like that idea about the fuse block, I'll have my friend check that out too.
Looks like my friend might get the car for free... I told him what you guys said, about no electrical pump. I also told him what I knew, carb'd f-body = mechanical pump. HIS friend doesn't believe him (me) about a mechanical pump- and thinks he has to drop the tank- which he doesn't want to do.
