check engine light intermitent

sometimes, on cold start up w/out enough warmup before putting it in gear, i'll get sputtering, hesitation, and the ses light will be on. the car will then stall, i'll start it back up, and the light is off. any ideas?? i've got a stock lg4 auto w/ cc carb. Any help is greatly appreciated

This is normal on carb cars. According to all data the ecm is receiving from the engine "lean, low vac, ect, ect" this information will set of the SES or Check Engine light about 5 seconds before the car stalls.
It basicly means the choke is not set.
Just pump the gas a few times before starting to make sure the choke is set and you should be fine.

Kinda like refusing to go to the doctor because you know he's just going to tell you you have cancer.

You need a primary choke pull off. Piece of cake to install. They do have to be adjusted though. If you need the explanation for adjustment let me know. That takes much more typing then I feel like right now.
