non cc q-jet

i'm gonna take the q-jet and distributor off a 78-79 z 28 for my 84 lg4 the z28 has a stock 350 in it, and i would think that it has the original carb. will this run OK for me, will it pass emissions?? Should i put the metering rods from my original carb in it?? i'm also putting in a stealth intake. Will my stock intake fit under the hood? what kind of 14x3 would fit?? i wouldn't mind an edelbrock elite triangular with generic k&n. they have a dropped base and clear HEI dists.

Emissions visual inspection? No. Emissions sniffer? Maybe, if you keep it lean enough.

Which metering rods are you talking about? The primaries won't work, the secondaries from your CC carb probably aren't optimal.

I wasn't under the impression that a q-jet would mount on a Stealth; if that's true, you'll need an adapter, which will raise the air cleaner, reducing hood clearance, reducing flow, etc., etc., etc. But, my dropped base 14x3 clears the HEI, for what that's worth.

that's right, i never thought about that- qjets can't bolt directly to a stealth. crap. it'll never fit under my hood with a spacer. maybe i'll just bolt it to the stock manifold until i get a new hood.

With the exception of the manifold it will bolt on and work fine. Don't try to take parts off the primary side of your old CCQJet and put then on a non-CCQJet. Totally different animals.
