qjet secondaries
i was reading a tech article on this web site and it was talking about adjusting the secondaries to make them open faster. I believe it mentioned adjusting a screw so the AV flaps would open sooner. Has anyone done this and is it worth doing to my stock qjet?

Yes, it's worth doing. Will get the secondaries fully open sooner and make more torque through the mid range. Just mark the starting position of the adjustment screw so you know where you're starting from. usully the stock setting is 7/8 to 1 full turn clockwise from the zero-tension point.
Make sure you have your screwdriver already inserted in the adjustment screw when you release the lock-screw or it will instantly spring back to almost zero tension as soon as you release it.
This mod really helps when used in conjuction with a faster-releasing vacuum canister on the pass, side of the carb. you can buy a canister that will bolt on to your CCQJet by purchasing the canister from Edlebrock for one of their #1910 high performance QJets.
You want to use as little tension on the spring as possible without causing a bog when you first step through into the secondaries. Back the tension off in 1/8 turn increments until you get a bog, then tighten it back up 1/8 turn from there and you're done.
I've seen various carbs want as little as 1/3 turn of tension and as much as 3/4.

I followed Damon's instructions concerning the tension, and while I was at it, I went with DR secondary metering rods and a G hanger (I initially went with AH rods--mistake. The DRs are much better). You won't regret these mods. Damon, thanks again for the heads up on these tweeks.
