how do you get it out????
ok I have a cc q-jet and I went to change the fuel filter, damn thing don't want to give it up. tha big fitting in front of it will turn but not the smaller one screwed into the bigger one, I tried just turning the whole thing but the metal fuel hose started to bend, what now, I even tried locking pliers and I stripped it a bit, it looks like it was put in with teflon tape or something.

I completely trtashed my fuel line trying to get that filter out. Finally I just cut about 8 inches of hard line out and replaced it with a hi-flow inline filter with rubber fuel line on either side. Now its really easy to change.
nevermind I think I figured it out, you just cut it out so you didn't have to worry about bending, great idea, but is that a fire hazard, I mean can I cut it with my dremel, or a hacksaw?

Not recommended. A mini tubing cutter is a much better idea.

Is the carb on the 87 TA. If it is you can get away with just leaving the filter out of the carb. You should still have the in line filter. When I switched to carb i just left the filter out of the carb all-together.
Yep, in-line filter is the way to go, ditch the one in the nose of the carb so you don't have to mess with tempramental fuel line nuts any more.
BTW- Fram makes a really nice see-through filter with a rather large non-replacable paper element inside for about $5. It's got 3/8" hose fittings on the end, a length of 3/8" hose and hose clamps. Very handy. You can see when the filter is clogged from the outside. Just chuck the old one and install a new one.

hey guys,
well I cut up the old fuel line and added a see through in-line fuel filter, I also replaced the one in the nose of the carb, so now I have 2 filters, and the clear one looks cool, and was only 6 bucks at pepboys.
