New carb - dies when put trans in DRV
I've got a 350 V8 with a TH350 trans. Added a new Edelbrock carb. Can get my idle down to 1000 in Park or Neutral, but when I put the trans in DRIVE it just dies! WTF? Why won't it idle down? Could I have a bad torque converter? Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Sounds like something is mal-adjusted or plugged. Go through the set-up and adjustment instructions (they're on their website if you didn't get something with the carb), or call their tech hotline.
You did switch to a non-CC, vacuum/mechanical advance distributor, correct?
Just curious, how can you smog that combo, living in "the Box"? (I used to live in Lemon Grove...)
