Junking the stock CC Carb??
Junking the stock CC Carb??
I want to junk the cc carb on my car. What kind should I buy Holley or other? And if I do what else do I need to do to my machine to make it work. Can I disconnect all the smog lines and sensors? Does the dist. have to be changed? Thanks allot for your help in advance.

New intake manifold, or something to adapt the squarebore carb to the spreadbore manifold.
Vacuum/mechanical advance distributor.
Means of locking the torque converter clutch, either a kit from Summit or Jegs, or a rigged-up manual switch per the tech article.
TV cable bracketry.
Or, you can save a butt-load of money and optimize the q-jet and ignition you have now. It'll run just as good, get better gas mileage, remain emissions-legal (if that's an issue - may not be now, but may be sometime in your future), all for a lot less money.

Yes, check the tech articles on this board. Your carb may or may not be flow-limited, but if properly set up, it will flow in excess of 750 CFM. That's more than enough to feed even a healthy 350.
The ignition really only needs a little help. An aftermarket coil is typically better than the factory, and a module (located in the distributor) will also help it. Other than that, good cap, rotor, & wires.
Your '87 is slightly different than my '86, so I can't tell you exactly what you'll need, but you shouldn't have trouble getting them from most any decent parts store or speed shop (Summit, Jegs).
The CC system is not what's holding your car back. Exhaust, air filter, and cam are the real culprits.
