Q-Jet is leaking! Need Help.
Just rebuilt my q-jet and it is still leaking. Im not quite sure where it is coming from. I see it dripping from the primary butterfly rod on the passangers side of the carb. That is weird because the base plate has not fuel running throught it. So where could it be coming from. I pulled the carb off and retightened all the screws nice and tight so I'm pretty sure it is not leaking form the gasket. Could middle body (bowl thingy) be cracked where do they usually leak from other than the gasket?

Fuel does go to the base plate and out the idle and transistion ports, so it could be the base plate gasket.
Another common leak is the fuel well plugs between the primary
throttle blades. This causes a rich idle, fouled plugs
and a hard start in the morning (dry fuel bowl overnight).
You can repair them with epoxy or JB weld.
Look down the carb with a flash light to see if the fuel is leaking from the venturies.
Check for a high float level or high fuel pressure or defective needle and seat assem.or float.

I checked again and it is leaking out of the primary venturies. I just rebuilt the carb and it has a new needle and seat for the float and the float has been adjusted. Maybe I goofed up or something. Not sure of my fuel pressure, just got my gauge in so I'll be able to check to see for sure soon. I do have a regulator and tried dropping the fuel pressure but then it cuts out worse on top end after I have been on it for a while. Maybe I can get the higher flow needle and seat so I can get more fuel while being able to keep the pressure down and double check the float level too.
