if you get lucky and find one in a yard you could likely pick one up for cheap.....but why not make one...thats even cheaper. there is even a very good tech article on this site on how to do it. i used it as a guide line and found it to be very helpful.

Yes, I got to thinking last night............and I was thinking that if I could find a rubbermaid microwave proof rubber container approx. 14inch in diamater, then go to home depot and buy some 3-4inch dryer ducting, I could easily make one using my existing 14inch chrome cleaner. I'm going to make one and I'll post some pics when I'm done.

I have a dual snorkel air cleaner from my 84 Z l69. The ducts are brand new from next generation. The Air cleaner itself needs to be repainted and doesn't have the "5.0 H.O." sticker on it. I'm trying to get around $65 or $70 dollars for it.

Uh..........man those stock single snorkel intakes are ****ing GARBAGE! I don't care how or what part of them you cut up, it still doesn't give you much clearance between the top of the carb and the cleaner lid. Why is a rubbermaid such a bad idea??? haven't you seen the boxes they sell in the back of Chevy hi perf. for $100 that fits on a 14inch air cleaner? Its the same damn thing. If I can vacuum form nose cone repairs using 3 layered carbon fiber and wet layup for 727's (my aircraft job) I think I can handle this.
