Change of Altitude - CO to KS
I'm headed for the Div. 5 finals in Topeka, KS, Sept 12-15. I know the altitude at Bandimere, where I've been racing, is 5800'. I've been running 68/74 jets here, so I'll probably need to jet up a good bit. I'm guessing at least 4-6 - anyone had experience in such adjustments? I won't have many time trials, so I can't spend a bunch of time tuning.
Anybody know the altitude at Heartland Park? I checked the NHRA and Heartland websites, couldn't find anything.
FWIW, this will be my first run at "low" altitude with a V8-powered vehicle.

I don't know where to find that info, however.. if there's an airfield around there you can find out the altitude of it, and you'll be in the ballpark.

I tried the websites for the track, the airfields, City of Topeka and Chamber of Commerce, NHRA, FAA - nothing.
Not sure how much difference it would make if I knew, but if nothing else, it's good trivia (and something to put in my sig).
I'll have a borrowed weather station with me, so I'll at least know the equivilent density altitude.
If someone DOES know the elevation, I still wouldn't mind if you post.

Which field is it?
Philip Billard Municipal Airport is 881 feet ASL.
Forbes Field is 1078 feet ASL.
There's also about half a dozen private fields around there.

Forbes, actually. Even the higher one is more than 4700 feet lower than Bandimere.
Wow, you mean there's actually 2 places in Kansas that are almost 200' different in elevation? From the track surface to the pits is almost 100' difference at Bandimere.
Thanks for the info. You da man!

Update:
Before leaving, I jetted the primaries up 4 and secondaries 5. I never was able to do any "tuning", since weather limited time trials. But, I pulled the plugs after 3 runs, they looked fine, the car ran great, so I must have been close.

I summed it up on the Racing forum. Grand total of two time trials due to rain, one Friday afternoon with Gambler race that evening, and one Sunday morning (like at sunrise) with eliminations starting at 2:30 in the afternoon. It ran better than I thought it would, never sputtered on me, set the best time (uncorrected) in the sig.
Oh, I won two rounds, went out in the 3rd in a double break-out (I was running in the left lane when I typically run right, was using a helmet for the first time, didn't keep track of the other guy and led him across by way too much - how many ways are there to lose a race?).
