My 86 camaro, with its rochester quadrajet

Hello! Im a young kid with an 86 camaro iroc z28. Its a 305 manuals tranns. Recently, i bought a rebuilt carb for it because the old one was going bad. Unfortunatly, the vacuum hoses werent properly put back to there proper place. The car runs, but i hear a hissing noise which means the is an open vacuum, and the censors must be in the wrong places because the service engine light comes on. It idles at 20000 rpms, and doesnt move from there. I am very lost with this, i dont know which hoses go where. Some of the hoses have opened ends going into nothing. Is there a manual somewhere that can help me????? Very lost and getting very pestimistic. Help me please!

What code is the computer throwing? Check the small port on the back of the carburetor closer to the passenger side and make sure it's connected.

You should have a vacuum hose diagram on your hood. Try to locate the noise. If you can't find an open port on the carb, spray some carb cleaner around the engine bay (NOT INTO THE CARB). You will hear the engine note and RPM change - the leak is in that area. If that doesn't help... Where in PA do you live? If you're near the MD border I could help.

I just looked for the diagram, and there is one, so hopefully i will be able to make some sense of what it says. Also, i had it running for a little bit today, looking for the leak, and i was revving it and for the first time, a popping noise came out of the exhaust, along with a big pocket of black smoke. Is it black smoke because its running on rich gas? and same thing with the popping? didnt sound good....

computer code?????????? i have no idea what it was, im pretty sure i had one of the hoses on the wrong vacuum. I have it all together now, it starts up and runs fine, no hissing, but its idling really low compared to what it used to, i need to up the fast idle then, right? Also, it's still a little hesitant to start, how can i fix that up? And the last problem, the electric vacuum on the left of the carburetor has a metal strip coming out the side, and thats where one of the elcrtrical wires goes, the plastic that was around the wire snapped off and there is just a metal piece that sits on the vacuum metal piece ( I dont know terminalogy so you probably have no idea what im talking about) What is that plastic piece called? Can i get another one somewhere?

You need to get that wire re-connected to the tab ASAP. That's what's causing your start up problems because that's what controls your electric choke. Go to NAPA and find a replacement connector for the piece that broke off. Have one of the guys come out to look at your car if need be. Go! Now!
