alright i pick up the 383 shortblock sat and was wondering what carb i should look at. the engine is around 10:1 with a .510 lift across the board and 3-- something durantion. flattop pistons and i was planning on putting a weiand team g intake on and was wondering what carb. my dad sayd a 650 vac sec spreadbore will me plenty but i am doubting and think a 750 would be good. anyone help me out here?

A carb slightly on the small side will work better with a single plane intake, because the intake smooths out the pulses of flow that exist in an intake with small runners; those pulses are a higher peak flow than the usual CFM formula would predict which is why a somewhat larger carb will work better on a dual-plane intake.

750 is plenty large, 650 is too small.

is there anything wrong with buying a 750 dp from ebay and put a kit in it? just to save money or should i save up and buy new. i figure around 50-75 for a used one and a kit off ebay but how much does parts cleaner usually run? something like chemdip?
