how does CC carb work?

what do the wires on a computer controlled carb do. its a Q jet from a 86 bird 305.

Well the three wire connector on the drivers side of the carb is for the Throttle Position Sensor. The other connector on the car is for the mixture control solenoid.

the mixture is comp controled? the reason i ask is ive been running the car without anything plugged in to the carb(on purpose) for a couple years.

Yes it does control the mixture to a point. If you had the tps disconnected how was the timing doing? I see by your sig you have a 700 behind your engine so that brings up another wuestion, how was the tcc activated? Im just curios becauseif everything else is stock it wouldnt be running very good due to the timing curves.

I see well that takes care of the timing but what about the locking up of the converter I take it yours dont lock up at all then.

no but it pretty much only gets driven to the track and im going to get a t350 when i finish the 355 in the spring so i dont care.

i got this engine from a buddy that had it in his 86 bird and without the computer and stuff my car runs faster than his did at the track. it cant be running that rich.
