will a 14inch air cleaner fit under my hood?

i have an edelbrock 600 cfm performer with a dinky 10 inch air cleaner on it and its not letting it breathe very well so i want to buy one of those 14 inch summit racing air cleaners from summit with a recessed base but it doesnt say how much its recessed? right now my 10 inch cleaner is about 2 1/2 inches tall and its got a flat base and it will barely fit under the hood. can anybody help me out? the air cleaner is part number sum-g3001 at summitracing.com and its only 17.95 anybody have any ideas? thanks

What manifold are you using? A 14x3 non drop base fsetup will fit under the stock hood with either a performer manifold or a action+. MOst dropbase air cleaners need a little adaptor piece to clear the carb linkage so be carefull.

i have an older 350 in my car and im using the 305 manifold, i also have to have a carb adaptor for the carb if that makes a difference, i have a manuel choke on my carb. it doenst have to look pretty it just has to serve a purpose so i figured i could dent in the bottum or whatever is needed to clean the linkage. i e-mailed summit racing and asked them how much of a drop it has, if its an inch i think i should be good but if its 2 inches i will probably hit the linkage
