MAP sensor questions

Ok, well i was looking over my car today and i notices that i did not have a vacuum hose going to the MAP sensor. I have an 84 TA with a 350 and CCQjet carb. Now the car has been running good, not a problem i can think of. I hooked up a vacuum hose to manifold vacuum which has 20hg and plugged it into my MAP... but the car still runs the same?? .... I was thinking that the car would run differantly seeing how the computer uses your MAP inputs to calculate for fuel... Could the MAP be bad??

Where is this MAP sensor located that you just hooked a vacuum line up to?

i thought it was a map sensor....... its on the passenger side firewall, with a 3 wire harness going to it and the vacuum hose goes to the very bottom of it behind the electrical copnnection. the electrical connection is a Blue clip on, and the wires are Black Grey Grey.

ok found out whats up today... we were looking at it at school ( i go to UTI), and me and my teacher figured out why my MAP and my EGR wenrt working... It all came down to my 350 motor swap and me not wanting the AIR pump anymore. Apparently there is a sensor in the Air system that sends a signal to the MAP. Well since i dont have the AIR, there was no referance signal being sent out, so no MAP... Then there is the EGR solenoid, which feeds off of the MAP sensor.... Since the MAP isnt working, the EGR solenoid wont open to allow the recirculation of gas. So somehow i got luck and my car still runs great without all this stuff and ohh also get this..........I JUST PASSED EMISSIONS.

That's the barometric pressure sensor. It isn't supposed to have a vacuum line on it.

The MAP sensor is on the driver's side.

The two are the same part. The baro sensor is supposed to have a foam filter over the nipple, but the filter degrades and falls off - most don't have it on there anymore.
