MPFI v6 to non cc carbed v8 ?'s

Looking to switch to non computer controlled carb in my bird. My questions are, how do I go about doing this? I want to basically ditch the entire ECM and wiring harness and keep the engine bay clean and simple. Only thing is there's wires going to the alternator and distributor and all that, so when I go to throw an alternator on it, isn't it still going to need to be wired up to work? I know that sounds stupid but I don't feel like messing around with this complete TPI setup I have sitting here right now.. Need to get this car on the road as fast as possible ;p

So I guess I'm basically just wanting to know what's involved in setting up a non cc carbed vehicle? Thanks.

Also, there's a wire with a 4 prong, square plug going to the transmission. Is that solely for the torque converter lockup after 4th gear or what is that?

My advice would be to do the swap and to leave the harness in while doing it. After everything is hooked up and you have the car running, cut out what you don't need. You will need to wire up the distributer, alt, A/C if you have it, ect. It's good to leave the harness in until the car is set up and running the way you want it with all the accessories you will be using. As an example if your carb has an electric choke you will need a 12v source for it. If the harness is there it will be easy to find one.

Two of those wires are for the torque converter lockup. The 3rd (and 4th) if equipped are pressure switches to tell the ECM what gear you are in.

Ok so there's basically no way to run the alternator and distributor without the wiring? I didn't know if there were replacement alternators or what.. Any more suggestions, anyone? Five7kid, could I get some feedback from you too?
