problem w/eqjet

I have a 84 TA with only 6300 miles on it. It has set for awhile, but I pumped out the tank put new filter in (twice to be safe) It starts and runs fine but after it warms up it tends to surge and cut out especially on inclines almost like vapor locking. The car runs about 225 degrees.I know the mid 1980's SS Monte Carlos had a similar problem and Chevrolet was installing a fan box that blew cool air at carb(not much of an engineering feat) I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they did to remedy the situation....Thanks Max

My donor car had that fan, which I retained on my driver. It only comes on when the engine is off.

I'd suggest getting your temperature problem resolved. 225 is a little too high for non-stop&go driving.

For a car that's sat around for the majority of its life, a full tune-up and carb freshening would be in order. These cars are also known for weak ignitions, so replacing the coil and module, along with cap, rotor, wires, & plugs, will by themselves most likely seem like a miracle cure.
