choke question

i had my carburetor worked on when i had my car saftied, it was sticking and wouldnt open, i since cleaned it up really good with gunk and now it wont close and the car is idling way too fast. Is it easy to fix this? Its the stock 4bbl on my 85 z 28.\

Oh and the big butterfly, i guess its the secondaries? why wont it open when i rev the engine, it dont move...or does it only open when at full throttle while driving?

As for your 2nd question, that is correct. What happens in the driveway has nothing to do with what the secondaries are supposed to do on the road.

The choke should be fairly simple to fix. But, your symptoms are kind of mixed. Usually, high idle goes along with choke not coming off. You may have to take it all apart and make sure everything is clean and put together properly. If you're not sure how it is supposed to go together and how it all works, you might want to seek out some competent hands-on help. Things like this can be extremely difficult to diagnose remotely.

Ya the choke wont close, the idle does go down when i put it in drive then when its back in park it idles around 2000 RPM...way too high....i dont know if me cleaning it really well would have caused it to stay open....i will bring it back to the guys who worked on it and see if they can redo it at no cost.
