Q-jet replacment?
I have a stock 305ci, 84 Z28. I want to replace the stock carb with either an edelbrock or a helloy. I was wondering do i need a q-jet replacment holley or edelbrock, or can i just get one that is nto a q-jet replacment. I knwo the ones that are not replacments are cheaper. Also, what CFM am i lookinf at with a stock 305? Oh and if you care to answer this one too, i was thinking about either a performer or a rpm performer intake to go with the carb. I drive a lof on the freeway, which would be better?

Quite frankly, the best carb for you is the stock q-jet.
You didn't say why you want to replace it. Most likely you're trying to "fix" something that the carb isn't causing.

I've had both a Holley and an Edelbrock on my 305. So far I like the Edelbrock better, it runs much better. But I don't know much about tuning carbs, so I'm not sure my opinion really counts. Either way you'll need parts like a throttle cable stud and kickdown stud. And you'll have to fiddle with the kickdown cable to get it to the proper location. I'm also not running any smog stuff or computer so that made it a pretty easy swap for me.
