New carb..Drained gas, now how long before
i pulled my motor and i drained all the gas out of my carb...i ned to know how long untill i have to worry about the internal gaskets drying out....its been almost 3 weeks
A lot longer than that. Stick it in a plastic bag if you like. Accidentally getting dirt into the carb while it's off the engine is the more immediate concern, not the gaskets drying out.
I redid a carb for a guy 3 years ago. He didn't get around to running the engine until just recently. No problems. He actually put the carb in one of those vacuum bags like you shrink-wrap food in before you stick it in the freezer. Heh heh. I thought that was pretty ingenious, but totally unnecessary.
If it's a relatively new carb you don't have much to worry about. Gasket technology has come a LONG LONG way in the last 8-10 years. Dried out gaskets are mostly a thing of the past.
