carb for a 86 305

i want to get a new carb for my Z28, i was just wondering what some of you would go with,i was thinking of something around holley 600cfm.at what size does the carb become not smog legal

Where you are, as soon as it isn't the stock Q-Jet. Even if it's smaller than the stock Q-Jet, such as a 600 would be.

Your local laws don't allow any other kind.

Technically, federal laws don't allow any other. It's enforcement that's local.

FWIW, the factory carb is great for street performance.
