E4ME 87 vs 82 vaccuum

I have an 82 TA with 305 E4ME carb and am failing emissions. I now have a new rebuilt E4ME carb off an 87 TA and there is an additional vacuum line at the top of the back of the carb. What is this line for and can I block it? I need to look at an 87 vacuum diagram if anyone can send it to me. Otherwise, I am off to the library to look it up in Chiltons.

Thanks!

I don't recall off the top of my head what that extra port was used for.

Hook up the ones you had before and cap the unused.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I still would like to look at the vacuum diagrams if anyone can post them.

That point is for supplying clean air to a hot-air choke system. It is not used in our cars. Cap it.

Here's a vacuum hose diagram for my 83; it's the same as yours.

Thanks so much. That matches the diagram under the hood and clears things up.

I know such a thing existed in the 70's, I just hadn't seen it on a CC carb.

I thought an extra was added in '86, but was too lazy to find a post with a diagram proving it. It's been over a year I'm sure that I saw such a post with both diagrams.

But, the main thing is to get the proper type vacuum to the components that need it. That should do it.

Supposedly there was an E4MC, but I've never seen one.
