No power till full operating temperature or longer

My quadrajet 350 when it first starts up needs atleast 2-3 mins for it to even be driveable without stalling. After that, I have noticed I can't lay scratch from a stop light, just gunning it, until I have been driving for atleast about 10 mins or more. Is that just how carbs are, or do I have a problem?

The secondaries are locked out while the choke is still on. Once the choke opens, the secondaries start opening.

No. When I bought it, it had been recently rebuilt and I guess the guy never bothered to to put the choke back on. Anyway I slapped on a new quadra-jet, and at that time I didn't really know what a choke was, I just thought it was probably on the carberater. So no, it's still got a fast idel cam, I can pop the hood and trigger it by hand if I really want to, but that is more work than it is worth. As far as the other stuff, all I know is I put a new carberator in it, whatever was there is there. Buddy of mine was looking under my hood and pointed out that I did not have a choke, that is the only reason I even knew.

well the lack of a choke explains why you have to way 3 min before you can even drive it
