what do you think this will make...

Alright, I have a 350 in my iroc. Right now it has a 305 tpi setup on it. Once I do my carb swap (still need to get carb and hei dist) i'll have this:

350 4-bolt main
LT4 rods
8.5:1 compression
76cc heads
comp XE274 (.490/.490 lift)
P&P torkerII
holley 750 dp
mallory hei
edelbrock shorty headers
hooker 3" catback

Was just wondering what you guys would think i'd be around hp wise at the flywheel. I know the low CR is really killing it right now, after I do the carb swap i'd be looking at getting some alum 64cc or L98 vette heads. I was kinda hoping a bit over 300 at the crank since the engine is rated at 260hp/350tq with a dual plane intake and a tiny cam (lift is like .380/.400). Am i being too optimistic or should i be keeping up with ls1s?

Also, wondering what type of heads you guys would recommend for my setup, I know 64cc heads would bump my CR to 9.5:1 and 58cc vette heads would bring me about 10:1. Kinda looking for something as cheap as possible but being a pre '86 style head (don't want to go to vortecs). I'd be willing to spend like $800/pr if it'd be worth the money. Thanks for any help.

It's not so much the CR that's killing it, it's the castings themselves. Can we assume they end in "882", or something like that?

$800 isn't very much for new aftermarket heads. You could come close with World or Pro Topline Torquer's if you got them unassembled. If you can find some used aluminum L98 Vette heads, you might be able to sneak in under that amount, depending upon how much work they need to be freshened up.

"Worth it" is pretty relative. Until you do the heads, though, you'll be power limited no matter what else you do.

I'm not sure what a "P&P Torker II" is, but if that's a single plane intake like the Edelbrock Torker II - pass. Get an RPM or Stealth dual plane. Much, much better.

You Probably didnt gain much with the cam swap because of the fact that those heads dont flow enough for the larger cam not to mention your going to want a little more compression for that cam. So I bet you have around 280 or so at the crank. Also that single plain intake doesnt match your cam get a performer RPM or RPM air gap if you have the hood clearence for it. The Aluminum vette heads would be a good swap I have seen them on ebay for around $600 or so. Get them, and the new intake and youll probably make around 350hp or so considering thats what the zz4 makes with those same heads and a little diffrent cam. Good Luck.

Part#SD8060AG $780

...gets you Brand New Vortec heads and matching Edelbrock intake..all brand new parts with everything needed for the swap.

Your compression and that intake are killing that motor.

With that cam, you'll need the upgraded Vortec kit. $910.

Thanks for the advice guys, the reason I got the torkerII is I don't need a lot of low end for this car, it has 3.73 gears, and a 3000 stall TC. I really just want to get the thing to make alot more power above 4000 than I have right now with tpi. You think that cam is a little to small for that intake? I was thinking that when I change heads (a few months at least), I would go to a bigger cam, since I would put better springs on and be able to run over .500 for lift on the cam.
