corroded carburetor

i got an edelbrock carb from a friend, and i have a couple questions about it. --first of all, how do i tell what model it is and everything without him knowing either? -- and also, its kinda corroded. its not like horribly bad, i can probly polish most of it out. its on the carb itself all over the place, 2 of the throttle blades are rusty, and only like one of the levers or whatever move freely. can i clean it up and restore it to like new condition with polishing corrosion removal and probably a rebuild kit?
i dont know a whole lot about carbs and my car is tbi, but im rebuilding the engine and have a nice carb intake, so if i get it to work nicely i might swap thanks

Model number is stamped on the front right mounting ear. Disassembly and cleaning would be a start, anything that doesn't free up after that would have to be replaced.

Disassemble everything and soak the non-plastic parts in real carburetor cleaner. Scrub as required.
