The exact flow capability varied, as some had the secondary AV opening restricted and others didn't. Mine didn't.

If restricted, less than 600 CFM. If not restricted, more than 750 CFM.

Why would you consider replacing what could be argued is the best street performance carb ever made?

If your quadrajet bogs, you simply haven't tuned it correctly. Between the AV tension, choke pull-off, rods & hanger, there's no good reason to live with the famed "quadrabog".

On the other hand, I had an Edelbrock 1901 Performer q-jet that supposedly had all the bugs worked out that Rochester never bothered to fix. The AV had a very gritty feel to it, never opened smoothly, and was all over the map when trying to bracket race. Getting $75 for it at the swap meet last spring was truely a happy moment. I've never had a problem like that with a factory q-jet.

I guess that just proves you ineptitude with a carb. Educate yourself, then you wont make such stupid statements.

Trust me man, you will gain absolutely nothing by losing the qjet. If you do decide to, a stock 305 revving to 6000 RPMs needs no more than a 600. Anything more than that is overkill, and not needed.

And that info would be helpful to the original poster..... how??

There's more to "replacing" the stock carb than just the carb. If you lack understanding of these things on such a basic level, you'd be much better off learning about what you've got and making it work right (which is not usually all that hard) rather than hacking up your car in ways you don't know what you're getting into. Regardless of what kind of carb somebody else has put on their car, and how eager they seem to be to criticize what came on yours.

No one asked what you wanted on your car. Ironically, the Qjet will outperform a VS holley. And be easier to tune will doing it.
