Quick question - ZZ4 intake manifold and LG4
Will the ZZ4 intake manifold pretty much bolt onto an LG4 that's otherwise stock? Or does it require that some things need to be remove/changed other than the stock manifold?
I have an opportunity to get this intake manifold for cheap and that's why I am asking.

There are some differences on center bolted valvecover heads and perimeter bolted, so if you have the stock 84 heads, make sure it's the manifold is for a -86 down and not 87- up. Other than that it might work, but I was under the impression that the ZZ4 was a new intake made for the new heads.

Chevy says it's compatible with any block up to 1986, so I'm not worried about that. I was wondering if there were any things that would need to modified in order to bolt it right onto the engine (e.g. EGR, waterneck, ect.).

The ZZ4 is a much better intake than the Performer.... I have one of those too, had them sitting side by side to compare; also a Perf RPM. The Performer isn't much better than what came on these cars.
It's a decent intake, and for emmisions it's good, but the RPM is a much better piece. GMPP intakes are made by Edelbrock. I've used all three (and then some), and I'm sticking with the RPM for dual plane apps. I couldn't tell the difference between the ZZ4 and the Performer, but the Weiand Stealth amd RPM both worked better. Never had a stock LG4 intake so I'll have to take your word on that one.

I also have one of these (ZZ4 intakes) on my car at the moment...bone stock as far as whatever bolts to the intake and around it.

Ok, thanks guys.
Does the Performer RPM offer enough of a performance increase over ZZ4 intake to consider buying it instead?
I'm aware that the car is stock and it probably won't make too much of a difference either way, but I plan to do some extensive work later on down the line.

No emissions, but I don't know if I want to get rid of the EGR if it is too much of a hassel.
My car's engine isn't, and probably never will be, comparable to a ZZ4 either.
I think for now I will just stick with the ZZ4 intake and if I feel the need to upgrade later on then I'll do it then.
Thanks for all your help.
