Do i need to modify throttle linkage for TBI to Carb Swap?

I am in the process of switching from TBI to carb, and i have heard that you have to do some work with the linkage such as brackets and stuff. I am gonna be using a edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold and edelbrock 1406 carb. What do i need to do and what kind of brackets and such do i need?

I did but I have Vortec heads- Edelbrock makes a new bracket which I bought for around $15.

Just did this last summer on my wife's 92 RS (original 305 TBI engine). I modified a cheap adjustable Spectre chrome throttle/kickdown cable bracket and it works great. Some people have bought off-the-shelf non-adjustable brackets from Holley and other places but none of them even came close to working with the original cables on my 92 (I tried ALL of the brackets that others said they had used successfully converting from TBI on their cars). I suspect that GM changed the cable lengths over the years and not all combinations will work on all years.

If you get stuck, shoot me an email. I can shoot some pictures, give you some pointers, etc. For $12 this is definitely the cheapest solution I have found. And I do emphasize CHEAP.

Is this swap worth it? Power, performance and economically? Because I am getting 18mpg in the city with my 305 TBI (throttle body spacer and K&N filter and lid). So what does a carb do for a TBI engine?

Along with the carb i am swapping heads, cam and intake mainfold. The stock TBI unit would have called for lots of Eprom tuning and burning and i do not own the equipment to do it. Gas mileage is not an issue with me because i have another car as my daily driver.
