air going the wrong way through carb

yes at high rpm the air is going in and out. the timing is right and its not missing on any cylinders. it is running slightly rich but not way off from the proper a/f ratios. I'm thinking that its because of my exhaust, which goes from a edelbrock shorty header to a single 3 inch collector, then through a 3 inch high flow cat, but then down to a single 2.5 inch cat back. does anyone know if the backpressure would cause this?

Valve that is not adjust right, valve timing that is not good, could possibly just be some reversion too. Maybe the intake has a bigger runner than the heads.
