Swap to Carb gauge relatted
Ok i swapped over to a carb setup and i have a couple of questions on getting my gauges to work. My gas gauge stays at full the whole time, my tach doesn't work, and what about my speedo does that need recalibrating? whats the process in my situation on making my gauges work correctly. thanks
Fuel gague has nothing to do with anything you did under the hood with the engine.
Tach- It's not driven by the ECM- it is driven from the ignition system just like in the old days. There's a wire you need to swap off the old coil connector over to the "tach" terminal on your new distributor or to the "tach" terminal on your ignition amplifier box (if so equipped). It's the smaller white wire on the 2-wire connector (the bigger pink wire on that connector is the one that supplies 12V+ power to the stock ignition system).
Speedo- has nothing to do with what you did under the hood. Speedo will still read correctly.
This all assumes you still have the stock ECM in the car. It won't be doing much without the FI system in place, but it's still needed to run a few things here and there like the speedo and a few other things.
I changed my 92 Camaro over from TBI to carb last year and absolutely everything on my car still works- all the gaues and even the A/C! There's an article I wrote up about it in this forum from probably many months ago if you want to do a search on my screen name.
