high idle at startup

i have a 87 camaro cc quadrajet.when you first start the car the idle is extremely high you hit the accelerator hard and it kicks down some but still high, after a couple of minutes you hit the accelerator sharp again and it idles down to the normal 8,000.the choke light will come on and after a minute will fade but not go off all the way until its totally warm, what is the adjustment procedur e for the choke ,or does it sound like something else? also a while back i read a thread on corecting the "quadrabog" i didnt save it can somebody help out i think it was on the secodary air valve openining but i could be wrong

I'm pretty sure this is normal, it runs at a fast idle until the engine warms up. At least that's what mine did before I replaced it, now the new Edelbrock will only start with fast idle if i pump the gas before starting it and kicks back down as soon as I touch the gas again.
