love that carb hiss

ok, so for starters, the car is my 84 305 H.O. Z28 that i just got anew engine put in about 6,000 miles ago. after changing the oil the second time, as well as adjusting the TV cable,my car starting the have that really hiss from the carb, and would not be as powerful as usual. i first thought it was a bad spark plug, but from checking around i think its a vacuum leak. tried every hose and no results, still trying to locate the exact location of the leak if there is one, but its hard when i am constantly working and going toschool and never home with time to work on the car. the car will run fine in neutral, but whenever in gear, it bogs and sounds like an old beater! any tips will be appreciated, im going outside now to try again to find the leak, but the bog while in drive is very annoying. thanx guys!

so, i am driving to class and go about 2 miles and decide to go home and work on my car. it sounds like a freakin lawnmower now and i still cant find any leak. ive been searchin the forums for the last two days and so far nothing has really helped me....

umm, the only other things i can identify is that the engine is definitely not putting out the same power as before. it really sounds like a lawnmoyer whenever i am in gear and presses the gas pedal, at any rpm

yeah it was an exhaust leak. took my car to the shop saturday and the guy who put the engine in walked right up to me and told me exactly what was wrong. just by starting it. so he said he would tighten up the manifolds and tune my carb for me. its now tuesday and they are supposed to be done with everything since they had to order some extra gaskets monday. im just glad its over with and i will be able to drive my car again, imcurrently driving my mothers 04 honda civic si and it just pisses me off! i hate fwd! and hondas!
