10Gunman,
I'll check Autozone. We have a few in the area. One is open 24hrs. I'm fairly confident that I can find one for you... As I recall it was about two bucks ($2). Send me a PM with your U.S. mailing address.....I'll send it reg mail. I may not be able to get to one of the Autozones until Saturday.....Don't expect it until about Wednesday+ (unless your in Alaska or Hawaii).

Kurt

hey kurt listen I was reading and reading my posts again to see if I left something out and you are saying I woun't be able to read the codes if my car is not on? do you mean I have to turn on my car and then stick the fork in? I think last time I got a 23 code I stuck the paper clip on and then turned the key but did not turned the car on and it worked what do you guys suggest I do turn on the car and then stick the fork in that's what you're saying right? one more thing what if I stuck the fork and turned on the car is there a problem is that maybe why is not working? well let me know oh and thanks again to you and naf for the help you guys have sent me but I'm in need of more again because is still not reading sorry for the trouble.

Read your codes with ignition on, engine off. Doesn't matter whether you stick the fork in before or after you turn on the ignition. Just don't start the engine while reading your codes.

They can be read with the engine running, or the engine off and the key forward. Just don't START the car with the fork in.

I usually check the codes with the engine running. Fortunately, my son's car hasn't thrown any codes for weeks. We FINALLY got it all working correctly

You are putting the jumper into the upper row of the ALDL are'nt you? Jumper first, then turn key to ON (idiot lights on).

Pin A on the ALDL is the top right pin and is a ground. By connecting it to Pin B (immediately to the left of A) you're providing a ground to Pin B.

You may try to ground Pin B with a jumper wire to another chassis ground.
