tps voltage
Ok, i finally checked the tps voltage on my car after reading several posts that said my surging problems could be a faulty tps sensor. my readings were 1.60 volts at idle. The voltage would go up steadily though as I opened the throttle to wot with no weak spots. How do i go about adjusting it? i have another cc qjet to experiment on before i tinker with mine. Also, the surging only occurs once the car has warmed up completely.

normally the voltage doesn't change unless there is a problem with the TPS or the adjustment has been messed with.
on the air horn there is a small plug by the accelerator arm, see pic. you need to remove this plug, under it is the adjustment screw, turn it clockwise to decrease the voltage, turn it
counter-clockwise to increase the voltage.
this is very important, ONLY use a left handed drill bit to remove it as the plug will probably bind on the drill bit & spin, if you don't use a left handed drill bit, you will probably run the adjustment
screw into the air horn & then you will have problems getting it back out.
if the plug doesn't turn while you drill a hole in it, use a sheet metal screw to pull it out.
i believe you will need a 1/8 inch drill bit to drill the hole in the plug. you don't need to drill very far, just enough to get a hole through the plug. don't drill it off center.
set the voltage with the motor warmed up & the choke fully open.
once you have the voltage set right, you need to put another plug in to keep the screw from turning from engine vibration.
the pic is courtesy of Vader from another post.

so where do i get another plug? and where do i find a left handed drill bit? is the plug the little circle that is on the accelerator arm or is it somewhere else?

the pic i posted only shows the location of where the plug is at, the plug is number 19 in the pic Vader posted.
i wish i had that pic before, thanks Vader
i don't know if you can find a new plug by itself, they come in carb overhaul kits.
its unlikely they will have one, but you may ask at a auto repair shop if they have a spare.
a parts house or hardware store should have the left handed drill bit.

not very far, the top of the plug is about as thick as the rim on top of a coke can once you get through the plug you will probably notice a slight drop or jump of the drill just as it gets all the way through the plug.
if it works the way it does for me almost everytime, the left handed drill bit will bind up in the plug & un-screw the adjustment screw & will push the plug up out of the air horn so you can pull it off with some pliers.

i guess i was looking at the picture all wrong. i was drilling on top. after a while i looked to the side and the whole was already there. no amount of screwing or unscrewing the hex brought the voltage to under 1.8. it would increase if i went counterclockwise, but clockwise would produce nothing. guess i have to change the sensor.
