changing carbs
What has to be done to change from a stock CC q-jet to say a 600 Holley? The real question is what do you do with the wiring and can you get away from the ECM? I think I have some wiring issues and I am just looking at options. For people with my knowledge about cars keep it simple is best.

That may or may not be an option but I wanted to know what to do with the TPS and ECM solenoid wiring if I decide to go with a different carb.

chop 'em. Cut the TPS/MC wires where you can't see them.
You will need an older style non-cc distributor to match it, either one from the JY, or a new one, take your pick.
Then pull the check engine light bulb.
This question is asked so commonly, a thread like this should be stickied.
In short, your stock CC-carb is good, not a performance hindrance, and will get better mileage generally. So don't drop it as a performance upgrade. However, if you've got a nasty mess of screwed up wiring (one of my reasons for ditching CC), then give'r.

thanks so much. My car was totaled out in a wreck and has a salvage title so it will never be a show car probably. I bought it for a hobby project and not a lot of money. I have done a lot of work on it and as you can see by my posts, I have encountered a lot of electrical problems, As I get one problem solved something else crops up. I am not sure what I will do but at least I have options.
