i've got a 350 that i recently put in my 84 T/A. The CC carb and distributor were rebuilt, and the stock rods/hanger that it used for the 305 L69 were used. Now, when I manually shift the 700-R4 from 2nd to 3rd, the car nose dives around 5k, right before i shifted. I put on a new carter fuel pump, and new filter in the carb, but i'm running rubber hosing for the fuel line. Any ideas on why it would bog like that?

probably running out of fuel. put a pressure guage on that carb and see what it reads at the top of 2nd into 3rd.

that or look at where your fuel line's are running.. it might be vaper locking becouse of hot exhast gas's.. so route them away from your exhast..

Ignition.
If it lays over at 5000 RPMs, then recovers when you shift, that's indicative of an RPM-limiting problem, not a fuel problem.
I would say "valve float" is another possibility, but the Worlds should have come with good springs.

well, my whole ignition system is new as of yesterday. yesterday, it bogged at around 4k. I noticed the air filter was pretty dirty, so i'll try replacing that and maybe put in a good inline filter to see what happens. as for the fuel line, it runs up under the water pump close to the block, not the exhaust.

wow, you got that many completely different suggestions..
First i'd try bypassing all fuel filters altogether, to see if it helps. You might have a clogged inline fuel filter, or factory filter in the q-jet.
Then I'd check your float level.
Then i'd check fuel pressure (since it's a new pump)

I think I'd get a fuel pressure reading under the "bog" conditions before I'd do anything to the fuel system.
After you find out fuel pressure is steady under these conditions, go figure out which ignition component is the weak sister causing your problems.

One quick test: With the engine off and air cleaner removed, open up the AV while watching the secondary rods hanger - does it move up and continue opening up as the AV opens?
Well, I replaced the fuel filter and noticed that the carb was loose. so, i tightened the bolts, and the idle is excellent now, and no more bog. Oh, and what do you guys think of DR rods and N hanger, cause that's what i've got now.
