below the right red arrow is one of them. The other one is to the left of that 2" or so, can't see it in this picture. You'll probably need a funky little carb adjusting tool to turn the screws. they're spring loaded too.

An 83 T/A should have a CCC feedback carb. It is not just the idle screws that control mixture, but also a mixture solenoid that is computer controlled, based on O2 feedback. There are specific instructions for accessing and adjusting the air bleed to get the mixture solenoid dwell correct. If you don't even know where your idle screws are I would suggest having someone who is familiar with CCC qjets do it. You will need a dwell meter set on the V6 setting.

That picture looks just like my car after i junked the CC Carb because i could not get the original 5.0 stuff to work with the 5.7. If yours is origanal CC Q-jet the computer has alot to do with the mixture. I just went with a regular edelbrock Q-jet replacement.

I doubt the 83 has a CC carb. I have an 85 Z28 with just a plain factory Q-Jet.

As far as those idle screws, they usually "capped" fromt he factory. You have to drill or break the casting in the spot of the screws to reach the head.

Canadian delivery = non-CC carb.

US delivery = CC carb.

the 83 had a CC q-jet according to my repair manual. My 84 L69 had a CC carb. Yes you do have to drill those mixture caps out.

If your CC carb is running too rich, messing with the mixture screws will only make is worse. GM sealed those screws away for a reason- the mixture control solenoid(MCS) and oxygen sensor do alot of the mixing on this particular carb. Find the real problem- dono't waste your time knowing out the seals on the mixture screws just to find you didn't have fix the problem.

the M/C solonoid adjustments are for cruise RPM to get 35 to 45 degrees of dwell. Not an idle adjustment. After adjusting the solonoid, the idle mixture screws are adjusted to get 35 to 45 degrees of dwell at idle.
