fuel pump mounting...
Just curious if you guys thought this location would be OK for my Holley pump. It's right next to the fuel lines in the back. I know it looks close to the exhaust but it's still a few inches and i'll be using steel braided fuel line.

*Edit*
Also, what is the 4th line coming out of the tank for? I've got the main, the return and the vent marked but i have no idea what the 4th one is.. lol
Thanks,
Dave

If you dont like cold fuel go for it. Mine's located in a very inefficient spot but it work. Mines on the passenger side firewall, I just did that because it was easiest to work with, plus it's not going to be permanently there. I was looking for other places to mount it, there are a few near the gas tank, and that was one of them. I'd mount it farther away from the exhaust, and get some heat reflecting tube to go over the braided line.

i had mine on the firewall for a few weeks with the car running only a few times. Holley reccomends that you mount the pump as close to the tank as possible. Electric pumps like to push, not pull like Mechanical pumps.

That's where I had mine mounted. The 4th line is probably the one that went up to the charcoal canister.

That looks like the same spot I mounted mine.
I removed the carpeting to drill the holes from the inside, then I cut two chunks of side wall rubber from an old tire, and put it on both sides of the sheet metal wall, so the pump will run as quiet as possible.
I can just faintly hear it running, but the sound of the exhaust mostly drowns it out.And I run a Holley Red, in my car.
I also have the electrics running through an oil pressure switch, so if the car quits, the fuel pump will shut off.
Leon.

that 4th line should end about 6" from the tank, at that little white thing that you see in the bottom left of your first picture. high pressure relief.
3rd line is to your canister I think. some sort of vent setup...?
kurtboerhgner (no clue how to spell that right...) wrote explaining those 4 lines on his '82, so you can search for his post if you like.

well, the pump is mounted with braided lines. i ran the main power wire on the inside of the car. I just need to stop by the hardware store to get a few fittings.

I also mounted the FPR right off of the carb, just need to put in the filter and pressure gauge...

At least you did it right, alot of people dont realize that electric pumps are gravity fed.I have seen people mount them sideways, thats frickin dumb they over heat and burn out.Yours turned out nice man.

It's marine fuel line, if you peel back the steel brade it is like regular rubber line underneath. I snaged about a foot of it of of a generator that was being rebuilt in an undisclosed location. So yah, it's basically regular fuel line with the sleve over it. Either way it'll protect the lines...
i might also add a heat shield to the whole area, or just wrap the tail pipe in header wrap. Also, i was kinda thinking about adding a temp sensor on the 2nd output from the regulator to montor fuel temperature. I've got an open space in the gauge pod.. probably worthless but it'll fill a hole. lol
On a side note, i found out that when they ran the drivers side tail pipe they ran it under the main brake line, so right now the line is sitting right on the pipe tight as can be. I'll have to fix that ASAP.
