Hey, I was just wondering if it's possible to run a cold air intake on a carb'd 305...?
Sure- the factory did! The common upgrade is to a factory "dual snorkel" air cleaner like was used on the 305 L-69 HO carbureted motors. Designed specifically to fit over the factory QJet under a 3rd gen hood. Flow was decent but nothing to write home about (a 190HP 305 didn't need that much flow anyway).
If you've got the room and the inclination for something better and are willing to spend some time trimming and fitting a REAL performance cold air intake system you should look at what these guys have to offer:

It's like a cold air intake that starts with a typical 14x3" open element air cleaner. I've used them several times. You always need to do some work to get them to clear everything (especially the distributor) but they work just great once you have them fitted.
