I have an 88 RS. I'm looking to eliminate all the computer I can. What does it take to convert to a carb? Anyone done it?

install a non cc distributor, different intake, fuel lines+regulator and some minor stuff like throttle linkage etc.
or just use the searchfunction to get about 179 tbi to carb threads

If your going to further modify your engine, it may ease tunability. But the carb alone might net +10-15 hp(maybe) and will likely give you less fuel econ.

Brand new parts (assuming non-cc)

Carb $300, Intake $150, FPR $90, TC Lockup $90, HEI Dizzy & Coil $175 Misc $150

(Misc includes carb studs, gaskets, sealants, tranny fluid, vacuum lines, throttle brackets/linkage, fuel lines, etc. - all the $10 you-to-death goodies)

Almost $1000 total - No wonder I'm broke!

There is a tech article on this board on exactly how to do it. Follow it's instructions. I did it to my 92 RS when I dropped a mild 350 carbureted motor into it. For me it was definitely worth it- I run mid-low 13s with the new motor. If you're just tearing off the TBI system to replace it with a carb, no other changes, it might not be what you want to do.

What are your goals? Why are you considering it to begin with?
