Performer RPM Vs. Super Victor
Guys I did a search and did not find the answer I was looking for. I have a 11:1 406 with Etec 200 heads, SFT cam with 236/242 .520/.535 110, holley 750 hp carb. This engine will be going into a 86 mazda RX7 weighing 2800lbs and 4.10 gears. Trans is a 700R4 with edge 3200 converter also. I bought a regular performer rpm for this engine, but that was when I was going to use a milder hydr. flat cam and iron vortecs. Plans changed while at the machine shop, LOL Will the rpm have enough lungs to help the 406 breathe with the rest of my combination, I am planning on 6200 shift points?
Only reason I am thinking SVJ is - light car + gears + big cubes will mean lots of torque and I'll be in the poweband quick. But the SVJ intake is a big intake. Car is a weekend toy, cruises, drive ins, 1/8 mile track couple times a year. Help me decide while the engine is out and easier to swap if needed. Thanks for any help. Steve

well on my old 86 camaro i had the performer RPM intake, it made a huge difference in performance, but i also heard good things about the super victor. but even after that, i say go with the performer RPM.
----------
wait, are you planning on racing alot? or just racing a few times? plus do you want performance on the street alot as well, for street use, go with the performer RPM, if your gona race alot and are always gonna be in the high RPM range, go with the super vic.

With what you have, The RPM is still the better intake. The Super Vic is really a high rpm race intake for 4500rpm and up. Needs a big cam in the 250 to 275deg@.050" range and a race converter.
Stick with the dual plane on this one. If you really want to get silly try the new Performer RPM "dual quad" high rise.
Your cam is small. Next one or two bigger is a better match.
Could try a professional Products Hurricane vortec intake and a bigger cam like Comps #12-502-5.
Again, with what you have, the RPm is the best choice.

i'm running the super victor in my camaro with a cam 2 bigger than yours and i'm happy with it. that 406 is going to like the more flow, i'd wonder how it would do back to back from performer RPM to super victor, I know on my other combo I picked up .3 in swapping to a vic jr from a performer RPM, but they don't offer the vic jr for vortecs so i went with the super victor instead.

I'd do this:
Switch the Th700 for a Glide with a transbrake and a 4000-4500stall race converter 9". (lots more fun) Switch the cam for a Isky #201549 258-263 @.050 .547-.555" 106LSA. grind # is 547B..(order on small base circle if nessessary for rod clearance) Use a Pro Products Hurricane ( vortec) manifold and a 850 or 950 holley.
1 3/4" long tube headers. use 28" tall slicks.
Then hold on.....tight and make sure ya got 'er pointed where ya want to end up... first time ya launch 'er off the transbrake.

F-Bird 88 thanks for the reply, I really appreciate your advice on my questions and others where you have replied. Always good advice.
I already have a car pretty close to what you describe except swap the glide for a G-force and a spool. On the street it can be a bear to drive. It is fun but not what I am looking for in the RX7
This RX7 I want to be able to drive anywhere, idle faiely nice, shift in the lower 6K rpm, and surprise the heck out of 90% of anything around here. In all honesty with a 406 and dual plane I am kinda worried about getting the thing to hook up. I actually thoguht of the dual quad air gap intake. But I already have the bowtie overdrives TV system for a holley and the kit in summit was using edelbrock carbs.
Xpndbl3, what size engine is your engine and what heads are you using?
Thanks for the replies
