more specs.

is the q-jet computer controlled, or not? Have you ditched the computer?

Distributor, which one are you using?

which cam exactly?

how "bad" does it run? I mean, what kind of bad? Poor starting? Bog? etc etc?

That is NOT a mild cam. It's fairly wild actually. Still need more info, brand, part number, duration @.050.... Might be able to guess it based on that info, but the cam doesn't ring a bell of the top of my head... An old comp magnum grind perhaps?

It'll bog alright, you'll need to tweak the carb a fair bit to get that running right. First, is the torque converter stock? That'll help it bog a fair bit. I think the powerband of that cam is in the range of 3000-6000RPM or so.

is it the stock, computer controlled carb? choke, plus the 2 electrical connections? Is it the stock distributor??

A bog upon going WOT (assuming that's when it bogs - you weren't specific) is a combination of 2 things - the adjustment of the air valve tension, and the condition of the choke pull-off. If you removed the choke, and removed the choke pull-off in the process, you just made a bog machine out of your carb.

You can eliminate the choke pull-off, but that's a matter of extensive modifications to the secondaries to make the AV the sole controlling factor. Better in your case, if you've removed it, to put the choke pull-off back on.

Oh, and the computer doesn't control the choke. . .

You need the link that goes from the pull-off to the AV. Make sure the pull-off holds vacuum (I just had to replace mine, it would bog from time-to-time, not always, found out the pull-off leaked - it would pull to full stroke when the engine started, but would release at too high of a vacuum).
