Looking on barry grants website at the demons, a speed demon 850 has a venturi size of 1.562 and a butterfly of 1 3/4.....scrolling around to a race demon 1000 cfm shows a ventrui of 1.562 and a butterfly of 1 3/4. I`m looking to go with a bigger carb with the new engine (496 bbc 14.1 with 270 duration and .708 lift) but should I just keep the 850 or move on to the dominator series carbs which start with 1.75 ventruis and 2.00 butterflys? the entry to the ventruis makes 150 cfm difference or am I comparing apples to oranges

'monkey,
perhaps you should measure the partial vacuum
in the intake manifold, at WOT, to see how
much you might gain

well, say it was running WOT with 1.5 inches, will a bigger carb help that?

1.5 inches,
is 5 percent of an atmosphere.
and includes aircleaner, and other drag from piping.

is 2 or 3 percent more, worth it?
