Holley accelerator pump cam change...Help
Can anyone tell me where to start with replacing cam on accelerator pump? I have the assorted kit but not sure how to change it or which one to start with. I'm running a 350 w/mild cam, performer intake, holley 4160, 882 heads ported/polished w/2.02-1.65 valves and headers. The motor is a new build and seems to run good except for hesitation from idle to WOT. If I accelerate slowly no problem. Also a seperated issue is idle will drop 500-600 rpm for about 1 sec every now and then and am not sure what to address with this issue. Any help is appreciated.

did you adjust the transition slots or the mixture screws for idle yet in gear? Also I'd try the blue pump cam in the #2 hole. Furthermore since it's a VS carb you might need to change out the spring on the secondaries as well as a tuning device. Does your converter match your cam choice? That would be a reason for the bog as well.

OK, not sure what you mean by transition slots? What is this? Also is converter matched to cam? If your talking about torque converter I'm running a t5 so not an issue. So also unable to adjust mixture screws while in gear. As I am pretty new to this I have rebuilt several engines to stock specs but this is the first I've done w/any modifications. And I am by no way a carb guy....they scare me lol, so I'm learning them as I go.

flip the carb over and look at the slots for the idle circuit, front and back should be even, with a square shape essentially then flipped back over, installed and set them both equally to get desired rpm out of gear. Try richening the idle mixture screws 1/8 turn each to get rid of the dead spot, if not post back what happens.

Hey just an update. I'm still not sure what your talking about on the bottom of the carb....idle slots? and how would these be adjusted? Really curious about this so would still like you to explain. Anyway I got it running pretty damn good right now. I adjusted my timing, was actually running about 16 btdc. Adjusted to about 12 and adjusted air/fuel. So right now am pretty happy with it, but would still like to know what your talkin about if you have time to explain it.
Thanks for help.
