Re: Q-Jet Qestion
You'll never have the opportunity to watch your secondary flaps open, unless you're on a dyno. Those open when the engine needs it, so at higher RPM under load. Revving it in the driveway won't make it happen.
It bogs when you give it more than 2/3 throttle or so? I feel like a broken record here, but make sure you check your air valve tension first.
Boy, it must be Q-jet bog and cylinder head porting season or something....

when the car is stoped and i hammer it to the floor it takes off goes to 4500 5000 rpm and shifts fine but when im on the high way doing about 65 and stomp it it goes to 4500 bogs the rpms drop and the car actully slows down

Re: Q-Jet Qestion
oh ok, that's a bit different then.
Either your fuel pump is on it's last legs, and or your fuel filter is a bit plugged. Or your float could be misadjusted, but if you never messed with it, then that's probably not it. (Well, new carb, might have been set up wrong).
I'd replace the fuel filter.
If that didn't work, then i'd replace the on block fuel pump. $20 or so.
If that still didn't work (I highly highly doubt it), then you can remove the air horn from the carb and reset the float.

Re: Q-Jet Qestion
Figured out what was wrong. From my camaro siting so long rust built up in the hardline under the car so evne though i cleaned the tank put new rubber lines on and rebuilt the carb and a new fuel pump and filter, the rust from the lines dislodged and pluged up the new filter after about 600 miles so i just replaced the filter again and its good as new

oh, you never mentioned it was sitting for a while
Glad it was such an easy cheap fix! Every now and then you catch a break.

I don't know offhand, but it's until the top of the float is just a bit below the top level of the float bowl. Like 1/8" or something pretty small.

Re: Q-Jet Qestion
There's a semi-recent thread started by nate86 on rebuilding the ccc-qjet that has alot of information in it on adjustments required. Typically, though, floats don't become misadjusted over time. I'd suspect some trash caught in the needle/seat. Either way if you're opening it up you may as well invest in a $20 rebuild kit (which will have a new needle/seat) and some carb cleaner. Oh, and a new filter.
